Estancia Coy Inlet was founded in 1892 by the Smith brothers at the mouth of the Coyle River, where the Atlantic Ocean meets the vastness of the Patagonian steppe.
Since then, it has remained in the hands of the same family, who generation after generation have preserved its history, traditions, and way of life, making it one of the ranches with the longest historical legacy in Santa Cruz.
Today, as a project born from the desire to share that legacy, the family opens the doors of their ranch to welcome those seeking to experience the most authentic Patagonia. Here you won’t find a conventional tourist destination, but rather a genuine rural life experience: working with sheep, endless landscapes, starry skies, and the warm hospitality of a pioneering family that has been living and working the land for over 130 years.
Guests are invited to participate in the daily life of the ranch, joining in the sheep handling tasks and discovering firsthand the fieldwork that defines this corner of Patagonia.
The area around Coy Inlet offers a unique opportunity to discover the natural richness of southern Patagonia. Hooded grebes, cormorants, guanacos, gray foxes, red foxes, pumas, and many other species inhabit these lands, coexisting in a virtually untouched landscape where the steppe meets the Atlantic Ocean and nature retains its essence.
